Mechanism Software

Ingenuity Pathways Analysis (IPA) 3.1 is a web-based software application that enables biologists and bioinformaticians to understand biological mechanisms, pathways, and functions. The new release of IPA 3.1 integrates with 3rd party and customer applications through dedicated APIs and supports Affymetrix GeneChip Human Mapping 10K, 100K, and 500K Array Sets, thus greatly expanding the relevance of IPA to biomarker and pharmacogenomic research efforts. Highlights of the release include application programming interfaces (APIs), mapping files for SNPs, and updated content.

Scientifically Studying Ecstasy

MDMA (commonly known as the empathogen “ecstasy”) is classified as a Schedule 1 drug, which is reserved for compounds with no accepted medical use and a high abuse potential. Two researchers from Stanford, however, call for a rigorous scientific exploration of MDMA's effects to identify precisely how the drug works, the data from which could be used to develop therapeutic compounds.

Do you agree that ecstasy should be studied for its potential therapeutic benefits?
