Nanex™ hematopoietic stem cell expansion system is a nanofiber-based biofunctional scaffold that partially mimics the human stem cell niche. An expansion of human cord blood, bone marrow, and mobilized peripheral blood derived hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) has been developed using Nanex ex vivo expansion technology. Through a 10-day serum-free culture, over 200-fold expansion can be achieved with more than 70% of the cells still maintaining the CD34+ phenotype. With one complete expansion kit with Nanex-coated 6-well plates, HSC expansion medium, and cytokine cocktail, researchers will be able to yield approximately 10 million CD34+ cells from a starting cell population of 100,000.
