Dark Quencher for qPCR

Onyx Quencher, a dark quencher for probe-based quantitative real-time PCR, produces heat instead of light upon excitation. This characteristic can improve the signal-to-noise ratio over traditional fluorescent quenchers, such as Tamra. Available with custom primers and dual-labeled probes, four derivative versions of Onyx Quencher are designed to extinguish light over an excitation maximum range from 515 to 661 nm, which includes the emission spectrum of common reporter dyes, such as 6-FAM. For example, it can improve assay signal quality in molecular diagnostic assays and laboratory developed tests.
