The NanoLuc™ luciferase can provide new capabilities in reporter assays with the potential to aid with biologically complex applications that require greater sensitivity. It is small in size, allowing for viral delivery and protein fusion applications, and it can be easily secreted from cells. The enzyme is two orders of magnitude brighter than either firefly (Photinus pyralis) or Renilla reniformis luciferases, which can improve performance in hard-to-transfect cells. NanoLuc luciferase can be scaled from benchtop to high-throughput screening applications with no modifications.
