Bruker Sets Up Chemical Analysis Division

New segment will leverage chromatography and spectrometry instruments to be purchased from Agilent.

Bruker has created a Chemical Analysis Division within its Bruker Daltonics subsidiary. Varian product lines to be acquired from Agilent will become part of this segment. This includes ICP-MS systems, laboratory gas chromatography (GC) instruments, and GC-triple-quadrupole mass spectrometers.

Bruker inked a deal with Agilent on March 9 for the Varian devices. Agilent was forced to divest the products to obtain regulatory approval for its acquisition of Varian. “We look forward to welcoming the customers of these three product lines, and we are committed to providing the highest level of applications and service support as well as accelerated applications and product development to this valued customer base,” comments Collin D’Silva, the new president of the Bruker Chemical Analysis Division. The segment will be headquartered in Fremont, CA.

“These three businesses offer an opportunity to leverage our existing strengths in the analytical instruments market,” adds Frank Laukien, president and CEO of Bruker. “The three new product lines will form the core offerings of our new Chemical Analysis Division.”
