La-Pha-Pack will add chromatography-related consumables and accessories.
Thermo Fisher Scientific has acquired La-Pha-Pack based in Germany. While the company’s $25 million in annual revenues will be a small part of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s earnings, the acquisition will add a line of chromatography consumable products and related accessories.
“La-Pha-Pack is well-known in Europe for its breadth of product portfolio, fast order turnaround, and strong customer support,” according to Marijn E. Dekkers, president and CEO of Thermo Fisher Scientific. “This acquisition will significantly strengthen our chromatography offering in Europe by complementing our existing specialty brand, Chromacol, which is manufactured in the U.K.
“Additionally, we expect to take advantage of La-Pha-Pack’s highly automated manufacturing and assembly processes to improve our production capabilities and deliver high-quality consumable products to customers more efficiently than ever before.”
La-Pha-Pack will be integrated into Thermo Fisher Scientific’s laboratory consumables business, which is part of its laboratory products and services segment.
In November of last year, Thermo Fisher Scientific was successfully formed out of the merger between Thermo Electron and Fisher Scientific International. The stock-for-stock transaction was valued at a little over $10 billion. The new company reported 2006 revenues of $3.79 billion.
Since then, Thermo Fisher Scientific has nabbed a number of firms to pad various aspects of its business and expand its global reach. The acquisitions include NanoDrop Technologies, a part of Davis Inotek Instruments, SwissAnalytic Group, and Cohesive Technologies.
