Rating:
Strong Points: Great software collection
Weak Points: Downloadable software only

Summary:
There was a time when scientific software was very new and finding it was not easy. Back in those dark days before the web and its search engines, having centralized software collections was a great idea because it enabled potential users to find them readily. It’s still a good idea, but the vast reach of the web has lessened the need for collections such as this one. With 349 applications online as of this writing, the Structural Biology Software Database does provide an excellent selection of software in diverse categories, including Molecule Building, Molecular Dynamics, Gene/Protein Sequence/Phylogenetics, and Molecular Visualization, among many others.
