Strong Points: Rich information source
Weak Points: Nothing significant

Summary:
I guess it goes without saying that the human genome is an incredibly rich source of information. How many databases are out there that exist solely as a result of someone extracting a subset of the human genome sequence to create them? EGAD is a rich source of information about transcripts. In it, TIGR (The Institute for Genomic Research) has provided human (by extraction) and non–human transcript sequences, linking them to specific genes. As noted, a particular gene may have multiple transcripts, due to alternative splicing. Additional information available in EGAD includes cellular roles, overlapping EST data, and tissue distribution. Also, the entire curated dataset is available as a multiple FastA file (licensing required).
