Summary:
My interest in mushrooms dates to my childhood in Illinois. The place where I grew up was a prime location for hunting the delicious morels and I spent many a spring morning looking for them. From the looks of things, I have a counterpart in California in the form of Michael Wood, past president of the Mycological Society of San Francisco, and organizer of the MykoWeb site. Michael’s site contains information (including photographs) of over 500 species of fungi in the state. There are a total of over 2500 photos of these fascinating organisms. If that isn’t enough, there is an online cookbook (“Wild About Mushrooms”), which is complete with a guide for preparation and tips on safety. Other items of interest from the site include mushroom art, humor, bibliographies, and a CD-ROM (MykoCD) available for purchase ($20) that contains material not available at the Web site. It is for Windows-only computers. There is certainly a lot to like at MykoWeb.
