Summary:
Autoimmune diseases are nothing to mess with. Just ask anyone with lupus or rheumatoid arthritis. In these diseases the individual’s immune system attacks his or her own health tissue as a foreign invader. Imagine multiple autoimmune diseases. Fortunately, they are not common in individuals but do occur in members of a family, and getting in touch with these people is the aim of the designers of this site. Families with a genetic predisposition to autoimmune diseases provide a window of opportunity to understanding the mechanics of these diseases, which include multiple sclerosis, autoimmune thyroid disease, type I diabetes, psoriasis, and inflammatory bowel disease. Most of the site is aimed at making connections instead of education, unfortunately for most visitors, but the effort is a worthy one that may benefit us all.
