Rating:
Strong Points: EST info
Weak Points: Needs updating

Summary:
As readers of science news over the past year have probably noticed, the effort to sequence the genome of the cow is now in rough form. This informative site hosted at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana provides visitors with some of the landmarks of the genome and a first shot at genomic analysis for the organism. Hyperlinks at the site lead to a publication on whole genome physical maps and others lead to ESTmaps, human/bovine gene maps, and comparative maps. The site won’t win any prizes for graphic design or for complexity, but it does an adequate job of introducing visitors to cow genomics. It needs some major updating, however. Hopefully this will happen soon.
