It is wrong to say DMT causes hallucinations. What evidence do we have that serotonin isnt a hallucinatory state aswell. We live under the influence of serotonin, how do we know its not the hallucinatory compound. DMT provides a complete different world, where this world does not exist. If we were in the DMT world 24/7 then we would believe it as real and serotonin would become the altering compound. DMT is found in many plants and most mammals, it seems to be more abundant than serotonin.

It seems our body prefers DMT over serotonin due to the fact it is soo quickly metabolized by MAO and doesnt require arrestin to bind to the 2A receptor.
