Bravo, Dr. Tan. You've hit it right on the nose this time. This is the best blog I've seen on the topic. Big science is squeezing out the little people and the little schools, as well. We can't afford to do this. Innovation comes from unexpected places. I'd like to see a little school/little researcher stimulus with some teeth. How about this - create a pot for the best 50 ideas from unfunded labs. Create another one for 100 researchers at schools in the lowest 20% of NIH funding.
