GENconnect™ is the place to meet other professionals in biotech and participate in
important discussions.
What can I do with GENconnect™?
With GENconnect™ you can:
- Gain access to a multifeatured social media platform that lets you network with
top professionals in biotech and the life sciences.
- Participate in riveting forum discussions on topics pertinent to the communities
you join.
- Create projects, conveniently share information related to those projects, and track
project success with GENconnect's unique Project Collaboration Tool (PCT).
- Receive community-specific, up-to-the-minute news, insightful articles, thought-provoking
podcasts, upcoming meetings, and much more.
How do I join GENconnect™?
Registration is FREE, easy, and open to all students and professionals in the field

How do I join Communities?
The GENconnect™ homepage contains a list of GENconnect™ Communities with brief
descriptions of each. From this list you can choose to preview or join Communities.
Once I join a Community, what do I get?
You will be able to participate in riveting forum discussions on topics pertinent
to the communities you join and gain access to community-specific, up-to-the-minute
news, insightful articles, thought-provoking podcasts, upcoming meetings, and much
more.
Can I join more than one Community?
You are free to join as many Communities as we have available. As you join Communities,
you will see your My Communities list grow. Your My Communities list is accessible
from the GENconnect™ homepage and from your Profile box, which is located on all
GENconnect™ pages except those associated with the PCT.
What if I no longer wish to be part of a particular Community?
You can leave any Community at any time by clicking on the "Leave Community" link
located at the top of each Community box on the GENconnect™
homepage.
As a GENconnect™ Member, what are my privacy options?
As a GENconnect™ member you have a choice of two privacy levels, which you can set in
your profile:
- LEVEL 1 - This setting will allow any logged-in GENconnect™ member
to view your GENconnect™ profile.
- LEVEL 2 - This ensures that your GENconnect™ profile is only viewable
by GENconnect™ members who are also your GENconnect™ Colleagues.
What are GENconnect™ Colleagues?
As a GENconnect™ member, you may request any other GENconnect™ member to be your Colleague
so you can engage in private conversations and collaborate on projects via our Project Collaboration Tool (PCT).
To send a Colleague Request, find members using the Member Search tool. You can
search all GENconnect™ members or those from the Community you are currently in.
From either the member list or a member's individual profile, you can send a Colleague
Request. Once accepted, you are then Colleagues with that member.
Conversely, a logged-in GENconnect™ member may send you a Colleague Request at any
time, which you can accept or quietly ignore. You will be notified via email about
each request and you can view your incoming Colleague Requests from your Profile
box found on all GENconnect™ pages except those associated with the PCT.
How do I send a private message to a Colleague?
You can send private messages to any of your Colleagues from your Colleague list,
which is accessible from any GENconnect™ page, or from a Colleague's profile page.
When you send a Colleague a private message, an email with the message is sent to
your Colleague, and your message is logged as the first entry of a one-on-one conversation thread in your Colleague's and your own GENconnect™ Message Center. You can access your GENconnect™
Message Center from your profile box, which appears on all GENconnect™ pages except
those associated with the PCT. From your Message Center you can view all the one-on-one
conversations you have going with your various Colleagues and continue messaging with them.
Can I send a single message to more than one Colleague?
There is currently no capability to send a single message to multiple Colleagues,
but this enhancement, among others, will be available on GENconnect™ in the coming
months.
What is the Project Collaboration Tool (PCT)?
GEN wants you to put your motivation and drive where it counts: pioneering R&D.
That's why we created the Project Collaboration Tool (PCT) to simplify the logistics
of collaborative research.
The unique and convenient PCT helps you seamlessly form alliances so you can concentrate
on your next breakthrough. You can find other GENconnect™ members who can aid in
your research, share projects with them, upload related information in various file
types, and pool data.
You will automatically get an email alert when your Colleagues add something to
the project, and you can set deadlines as well as track progress. PCT allows you
and your team to coordinate your efforts seamlessly and effectively.
How do I start a project?
You can start a project from your Profile Box located on all GENconnect™ pages except
those associated with the PCT, from the My Projects box located on all GENconnect™
pages, or from the PCT homepage. From the Project start page you can give your project
a name, a description, set start and due dates, and choose collaborators from your
list of GENconnect™ Colleagues. Once a project is created, you and your collaborators
can submit notes to the project and upload documents in an assortment of file formats.
All activity on the project is logged in the notes section, and activity notification
emails are sent to collaborators. As the project creator, you have the ability to
edit the project, set the project status, and add/remove collaborators.
