Very small embryonic-like stem cells (VSELs) are about 2–4 microns in size and can reportedly differentiate into all three germ-layer lineages in vitro. Some scientists argue that they could be an ethically safe source of pluripotent stem cells for tissue/organ regeneration. However, one study was unable to repeat the results of the experiment that begot VSELs. (Click here for more on this.) Do you think they still have a chance at being a good source for pluripotent stem cells?
