Designer Babies and 23andMe

23andMe recently was awarded a patent for a technique that could be used to create babies with selected traits. (For more on this, click here.) Do you think this new technology will be used solely to prevent diseases like Down syndrome, or has a Brave New World of selecting children’s physical traits (eye color, sex, etc.) come upon us?

For what purpose do you think most people will be using 23andMe’s new “designer baby” technology?

Disease prevention
Selecting physical attributes/traits
Gender selection
I don’t care how it’s used
