Conflict of Interest

HHS updated its rules for academics who receive federal funding and who also have links with industry. Included among the new requirements are: 1) researchers must now disclose to their institutions all of their significant financial interests related to their institutional responsibilities and 2) they must declare commercial ties totaling at least $5,000. What are your thoughts on the new guidelines.
