International Europe obtained rights to distribute
ZyGEM's DNA extraction kits in Europe. VWR has been distributing ZyGEM's DNA extraction kits in North and South America since November 2008. Under the terms of the new nonexclusive license, VWR will be able to supply the DNA extraction products to the life science research, forensic, agriculture, and animal health markets throughout Europe.
ZyGEM's technology uses a thermophilic enzyme to extract DNA from samples using a single closed-tube system. This approach reportedly reduces the time and cost of DNA extractions while simplifying laboratory workflow, minimizing error, reducing the risk of contamination, ensuring sample integrity, and facilitating extractions from trace samples.
