University of Leuven Deploys GenoLogics Solution for Lab and Data Management

  • ProMeta, the Interfaculty Centre for Proteomics and Metabolomics at Belgium's University of Leuven, selected GenoLogics Life Sciences Software’s Proteus as the lab and scientific data management solution for its research.

The ProMeta Centre specializes in providing mass spectrometry and chromatography-based technology services, complemented by its capability of handling gel-based proteomics samples, to proteomics and metabolomics researchers.
GenoLogics Proteus solution will provide increased automation of instruments and data integration with downstream search engine processes, such as Sequest and Mascot, resulting in more efficient provision of services to ProMeta's academic and industry clients, say GenoLogics. ProMeta expects to thus realize a decrease in turnaround time, thus increasing profitability.

Scientifically Studying Ecstasy

MDMA (commonly known as the empathogen “ecstasy”) is classified as a Schedule 1 drug, which is reserved for compounds with no accepted medical use and a high abuse potential. Two researchers from Stanford, however, call for a rigorous scientific exploration of MDMA's effects to identify precisely how the drug works, the data from which could be used to develop therapeutic compounds.

Do you agree that ecstasy should be studied for its potential therapeutic benefits?
