Therapeutic Nanoparticle Initiative Formed

  • The Institute of Pharmaceutical Innovation is teaming up with the China National Academy of Nanotechnology and Engineering (CNANE), in a joint initiative focused on the development of novel therapeutic nanoparticles.

    The IPI is a leading research facility with expertise in drug formulation and delivery technology and active research programs in the nanotechnology field. CNANE is a multidisciplinary non-for-profit organization co-founded by the Chinese Academy of Science, Peking University, and Tsinghua University.

Scientifically Studying Ecstasy

MDMA (commonly known as the empathogen “ecstasy”) is classified as a Schedule 1 drug, which is reserved for compounds with no accepted medical use and a high abuse potential. Two researchers from Stanford, however, call for a rigorous scientific exploration of MDMA's effects to identify precisely how the drug works, the data from which could be used to develop therapeutic compounds.
