Firm will work to improve services related to electronic lab notebooks.

Symyx Technologies joined the Pistoia Alliance, a nonprofit group that promotes collaboration to streamline noncompetitive elements of pharmaceutical and life science discovery workflows. The alliance was initially formed by companies including Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline, Novartis, and AstraZeneca.

Symyx is participating in the Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) Query Services Working Group. As a participating member of the Pistoia Alliance, Symyx will collaborate on enabling searching and reporting across the groups, domains, and systems involved in research projects.

The aim is to create and release industry-standard definitions, a search application programming interface, and a service specification for accessing and reporting ELN information.

Symyx’ products include an ELN, decision-support software, and chemical informatics and sourcing databases.
