SeraCare Life Sciences Snags $23.7M Biosample Repository Contract from NIH

  • SeraCare Life Sciences was awarded a seven-year commitment valued at $23.7 million to provide management and oversight of disease-study specimens for the NIAID Division of AIDS (DAIDS).

    SeraCare will provide cataloging, processing, labeling, storage, and dispersal of specimens for DAIDS. The company will also provide technical support and training to NIH collaborators and investigators on issues related to specimen processing and handling.

Scientifically Studying Ecstasy

MDMA (commonly known as the empathogen “ecstasy”) is classified as a Schedule 1 drug, which is reserved for compounds with no accepted medical use and a high abuse potential. Two researchers from Stanford, however, call for a rigorous scientific exploration of MDMA's effects to identify precisely how the drug works, the data from which could be used to develop therapeutic compounds.
