Sanofi-Aventis Inks Three-Year Extension to Knowledge-Database Agreement with Aureus

  • Aureus Pharma extended its knowledge-database agreement with sanofi-aventis for an additional three-year term. Aureus will provide new AurSCOPE® knowledge databases and continue to update existing databases for sanofi-aventis’ R&D division. 

    Aureus’ databases will give sanofi-aventis researchers access to information on therapeutic targets including GPCR protein receptors, nuclear receptors, kinase inhibitors, and ion channels as well as drug-safety data.

Scientifically Studying Ecstasy

MDMA (commonly known as the empathogen “ecstasy”) is classified as a Schedule 1 drug, which is reserved for compounds with no accepted medical use and a high abuse potential. Two researchers from Stanford, however, call for a rigorous scientific exploration of MDMA's effects to identify precisely how the drug works, the data from which could be used to develop therapeutic compounds.
