PerkinElmer has acquired Ceiba Solutions, a provider of laboratory IT software and managed services, as well as information analytics, for an undisclosed price.

Ceiba’s managed services, certification and informatics technologies will be integrated into its OneSource lab services portfolio—specifically the OneSource Lab IT portfolio, which includes lab computing, scientific application services, scientific data services, and computer systems validation.

As a result, PerkinElmer said, its customers will now have access to Lab IT services that include:

  • Lab Computing Managed Services: Metrics-driven information technology support services, using a tech platform that manages lab-specific IT workflows—including, instrument commissioning, ongoing maintenance activities and ensuring compliance in documentation.
  • Training and Certification: A vendor-neutral, instrument-focused curriculum intended to train and certify information technology professionals in the uniqueness of IT in a laboratory environment.
  • Informatics: A solution for life sciences researchers that uses sophisticated data exploration and analysis.

According to Ceiba’s website, the company’s Helium data workbench solution focused on medicinal chemistry and cheminformatics already interoperates with software products from PerkinElmer, as well as from ChemAxon and Accelrys.

“As customers seek solutions and business models to help drive more productive science for their global enterprises, our ability to expand our offering in domain-specific and lab IT capabilities through this acquisition enables us to provide an integrated offering that helps accelerate their science,” Jon DiVincenzo, PerkinElmer’s president, environmental health, said in a statement.
