No Shave November: Biotech’s Best Beards and Mustaches

  • ‘Tis the season to let it grow. We’re nearing the end of No Shave November, or Movember, the month-long facial hair growing campaign designed to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues such as prostate and testicular cancer. In honor of the annual tradition, we’ve featured 10 distinguished scientists with the best beards and mustaches in the biotechnology arena.

Scientifically Studying Ecstasy

MDMA (commonly known as the empathogen “ecstasy”) is classified as a Schedule 1 drug, which is reserved for compounds with no accepted medical use and a high abuse potential. Two researchers from Stanford, however, call for a rigorous scientific exploration of MDMA's effects to identify precisely how the drug works, the data from which could be used to develop therapeutic compounds.
