Gene Express Licenses StaRT-PCR Technology to Gene Logic

  • Gene Express licensed its StaRT-PCR™ (Standardized Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction™) and SEM Center™ (Standardized Expression Measurement Center™) technology for the standardized measurement of gene expression to Gene Logic.

    StaRT-PCR is a method of measuring transcript abundance that incorporates reagents known as SMIS™ (Standardized Mixture of Internal Standards) that provide integrated quality control for each measurement.

Scientifically Studying Ecstasy

MDMA (commonly known as the empathogen “ecstasy”) is classified as a Schedule 1 drug, which is reserved for compounds with no accepted medical use and a high abuse potential. Two researchers from Stanford, however, call for a rigorous scientific exploration of MDMA's effects to identify precisely how the drug works, the data from which could be used to develop therapeutic compounds.
