Maine Manufacturing acquired a laboratory products line from GE Healthcare. Included in the agreement are microbiological monitors in both 47 mm and 56 mm sizes and a range of ready-to-use liquid growth media. Maine Manufacturing also can now offer the ZapCap brand of bottle-top filtration units and Centrex centrifugal filters.

“The addition of these products fits very nicely with our recently announced acquisition of the filter and membrane business of GE Osmonics,” explained Bill Emhiser, president of Maine Manufacturing. “These products from GE Healthcare are well-recognized brands with a wide range of applications, and allow us to provide customers a broad offering to meet their various needs.”

The products acquired were previously developed by Schleicher & Schuell and have been marketed under the Whatman brand since 2006. Whatman itself was acquired GE Healthcare in 2008.
