Boston University Taps Bruker Daltonics for Mass Spec Technology

The mass spectrometry resource laboratory at the Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) ordered a solariX™ FTMS (fourier transform mass spectrometry) from Bruker Daltonics. The instrument has a 12 Tesla magnet for bottom-up and top-down proteomics and glycomics applications with ETD and ECD capabilities.

Researchers at BUSM hope the tool will enhance their capabilities for the discovery of novel post-translational modifications including glycosylation as well as analysis of novel carbohydrate structures. BUSM already uses the Bruker amaZon™ ion-trap mass spectrometer for detailed and high-throughput analyses of glycan structures.
