BioCat and Alpco Sign Distribution Agreement

  • BioCat, a distributor of research reagents and technologies in the fields of genomics, proteomics, and cell biology, signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Alpco Diagnostics. The agreement names BioCat as the exclusive distributor for Alpco products in Germany.

Alpco Diagnostics is known for their insulin ELISA kits and other metabolism assays. The Alpco assays cover different aspects of metabolism and associated diseases including assays for factors involved in diabetes and obesity or cardiovascular diseases.

In March of this year, Alpco and Detroit R&D forged a distribution partnership by which Detroit R&D would use Alpco’s immunoassay market presence as a channel for its hypertension and oxidative stress products in North America. Also, in February of 2011, BioCat signed an agreement with SwitchGear Genomics under which all components of SwitchGear's LightSwitch Luciferase Assay System™ would be promoted and sold by BioCat in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland.

Scientifically Studying Ecstasy

Two researchers from Stanford, however, call for a rigorous scientific exploration of MDMA's effects to identify precisely how the drug works, the data from which could be used to develop therapeutic compounds.

Do you agree that ecstasy should be studied for its potential therapeutic benefits?
