ELISA Redux Challenge: Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology News along with partner Scintellix, LLC and sponsor Invitrogen, a part of Life Technologies Corporation, is proud to announce that we have a winner! Click here to read all about the team that solved this cryptic puzzle.

Also, GEN, Scintellix, LLC, and Invitrogen have launched another tantalizing contest called Cryptogram Challenge: RNAi.

Decode the cipher hidden in this 96-well plate.

Rules, Regulations, and Judging Procedure

  • The contest will run from October 15 until it is solved.
  • All entries must be submitted electronically.
  • You can enter as many times as you like up to once a day.
  • A new clue will be provided every Monday.
  • Submissions of solutions must be made on a 12x8 cell grid that exactly corresponds to the cells of the ELISA plate image, called ELISA Redux.
  • A correct solution must have a value assigned to each cell in the solution sheet.
  • Dr. Peter Johnson, creator of the Cryptogram Challenge: ELISA Redux, will be the judge.
  • A sealed solution will be held in escrow.
  • Evaluation of submissions will occur on a rolling basis.
  • Entries will be compared to the original answer key. GEN, Scintellix, LLC, and Invitrogen employees and their families will be ineligible to win.
  • The first solution sheet that correctly contains the encrypted message in the appropriate cells and all other cells labeled properly will win the contest.
  • He/she will also be given the opportunity to choose one of five benchtop devices from Invitrogen, part of Life Technologies Corporation.
  • The winner will also be featured in GEN, so he/she needs to agree to be interviewed, photographed, and have his/her name and affiliation published.
  • The first 150 registrants will receive a T-shirt depicting the ELISA Redux image.

GEN and Scintellix have formed a partnership to explore the hidden meaning found in biological imagery. The Cryptogram Challenge: ELISA Redux is the third installment of the partnership.
