Summary:

In the age of smartphones it is easy to become addicted to the internet, and therefore one may find oneself at a loss when there is no internet connection available. At least in the case of looking up information related to the human genome, a lack of internet connectivity is not a problem if you have the GeneWallet app downloaded on your iPhone. GeneWallet is an offline database that allows users to quickly and easily access information about their favorite human genes. Simply begin typing into the search field to display the best matches below. Selecting a gene entry brings up information on the gene’s function, similarity to other genes, alternative products, known interactions, and subcellular location, among other information to be found under the “information” tab. Additionally, chromosome location and gene structure can be found under the “structure” tab, whereas relevant citations can be located under the “publications” tab.
