Summary:

Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is a useful data analysis method with wide applicability across many scientific disciplines and types of datasets. The Eigen app allows users to quickly perform PCA on their own datasets, uploaded either via Dropbox or iTunes. While the app is accompanied by an extensive tutorial document (and indeed, it requires a thorough read to orient users), the document is not saved locally within the app. Instead, app users must access the document over the Internet. Two sample datasets come pre-loaded with the app so that users can familiarize themselves with the steps before attempting analysis with their own data. For each analysis, the PCA plot for the first and second components are displayed while the app generates a cumulative variance plot across all components.
