Summary:

Geared toward a younger audience (but honestly, who among us doesn’t love cell animations?) the Cell and Cell Structure app is a great educational resource for those looking for a beautifully illustrated introduction to cells. The home screen of the app directs users to one of three sections: All About Cells, the primary portion of the app that provides background; Interactive Activities, which include a word search, a quiz, and flashcards; and Videos, a section containing four animations that walk users through plant and animal cells, as well as the process of mitosis in each cell type. The app employs some neat touchscreen tricks and a variety of means to present the information, which keeps the journey through the content engaging. The information presented in the app is very basic, so those people looking for an in-depth cell biology course will be frustrated. However, as a simple and colorful educational resource, this app is entertaining and informative.
