So perhaps it’s just my neuroscience bias, but I happen to think that an interactive, 3-D brain app is pretty darn cool! This app by the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is just that—an interactive, colorful brain that can be freely rotated with a flick of your finger. Labels can be toggled on or off, and one can scroll between displays illustrating either the whole brain or highlighted regions within it. There are 29 structures represented in total. The app is certainly intended as a general reference rather than an anatomy study tool, and it would be nice if a more detail-oriented version was added in a future update. Additionally, while the graphics quality is good, the brain could be made to be more high definition.
