Summary:

Statistics. While readers may best know this field as “the thing that gets me a P value less than .05 for my experiments,” statistics is of course an important discipline in its own right and a critical applied science that affects many aspects of our lives outside of the laboratory, too. The website for The World of Statistics—a global network of over 2,000 organizations—is a great place to learn more about statistics as a discipline and a career path. The website features a blog with entries that highlight the application of statistics to everyday life, as well as other resources within the “what is statistics” section that further underscore the importance of the discipline. Budding statisticians will find a number of useful resources on the “statistics as a career” page, while teachers can browse a large number of links to online statistics education resources on the “teachers resources page.”
