The ability to program (even if it’s just a few simple lines of code to analyze an image) has become an important—if not essential—skill in biological research. Whether you are a coding neophyte or a seasoned expert, you should snake your way over to Python.org to explore the tutorials and resources available for the open-source programming language Python. Python.org is the official website for the Python language (although it is certainly not the only Python website out there). The site includes not only Python downloads (available for Windows, OS, and Linux), but also a blog, an event calendar, and a link to the Wiki page. The Wiki page contains a large collection of tutorials designed to acquaint even first-time users with the programming language. The website also includes a frequently updated Python News page, so you can always be in the know.
