I’m surprised with all the interest in proteomics and array technology that I haven’t seen more sites focusing more on proteomes. A rare exception is proteomicsSURF, which, as its name indicates, is devoted to proteomes and tissue-specific gene expression. Unlike other websites, which tend to focus on a single tissue or cell type corresponding to the research interest of the person organizing the site, proteomicsSURF provides information on a wide spectrum of cells. The opening page (at press time) focuses on the liver proteome, with an enormous collection of links relating to it. Sadly, the 2-D gel shown on the opening image is not used as a link to further information, at least as far as I could see. That is not to say, however, that there is not an ENORMOUS amount of information about liver proteins available. There is. Combine that with equivalent amounts of info about other tissues such as breast, cardiovascular, digestive system, hematology, urology, and many others, and you have the most prominent proteomics site on the Web. Kudos to the designers.
