Sometimes the most useful website is one that just gets to the point. No bells or whistles. It is this less-is-more style that inspired the computational biology tools website through the Mullins Lab at the University of Washington School of Medicine. When they promise computational biology tools, that’s exactly what you’ll get when you visit the site. The site is composed of 15 web tools and 11 Perl scripts. The web tools include web servers to analyze phylogenies, sequence divergence, and HIV immunology data, in addition to a number of other resources. Among the olio of online tools compiled on this site is a link to a web service that tracks scientific literature, a test to detect continued viral replication under antiviral therapies, and a tool to reformat diagonal distance matrices into columnar output.

Scientifically Studying Ecstasy

MDMA (commonly known as the empathogen “ecstasy”) is classified as a Schedule 1 drug, which is reserved for compounds with no accepted medical use and a high abuse potential. Two researchers from Stanford, however, call for a rigorous scientific exploration of MDMA's effects to identify precisely how the drug works, the data from which could be used to develop therapeutic compounds.
