Summary:

Sure you may often think of mice or flies when you think about animals used in biological research, but there are of course a number of other species that are useful to biologists. Take, for example, the monarch butterfly. On the University of Minnesota’s MonarchLab website visitors can—to quote the site—“find resources about all things monarch.” Included among these resources is information about various research projects related to monarch butterflies, which span topics such as development, parasites, reproductive biology, and interactions with milkweed. Additionally, there are information pages covering a number of topics related to monarch biology, as well as information about monarch conservation. If you still have questions after browsing the material on the site, you can submit them via the “Ask the Expert” page.
