With a description on the opening page describing the site as a “user edited collaboration platform for several scientific disciplines,” I was left scratching my head a bit. Digging deeper, I clicked on a few of the links on the opening page and found they pointed to some very useful sites, such as the Bioinformatic Harvester (searches human, mouse, or rat genomes for specific words), a collection of 150 bioinformatics databases, and the excellent ScienceDaily news source. The Hwiki site appears to be a work in progress, if I see it right. I registered (free) to access the additional content available to registered users and found that some of it, the discussion, doesn’t exist yet. That’s kind of a bummer, as I now have my e-mail address somewhere out there in etherland for which I’ve not gotten much in return. Nevertheless, the site looks promising. I hope it continues to expand.
