We all thought we could relax after we mastered the central dogma. Then we find out (as scientists often do) that it’s not nearly that simple! Studying transcription factors won’t give you the whole picture unless you also study the microRNAs that regulate them. The genetic code must be studied alongside the histone code. Genetics must be supplemented by epigenetics—wait. Epigenetics? Such is the question posed and addressed on this site by the Europe-based Epigenome Network of Excellence. This site summarizes current research articles relating to epigenetics (and includes links to the original articles on PubMed), and also provides background information. The information is arranged in an article-like manner, which offers the advantage of good organization. The website bridges technical aspects of the field with clinical considerations, such as cancer and stem cells, which provides nice insight as to where epigenetics, as a field, may be going.
