ChemSynthesis

URL:www.chemsynthesis.com
  • Literature references for chemical synthesis
  • Incomplete physical properties, missing MSDS links

To the chemist, it is often as important to understand how a chemical is synthesized as it is to understand the chemical’s properties. The ChemSynthesis chemical database provides a one-stop online browsing destination for people interested in both of these aspects. Chemical compounds are organized by compound class, from “acridines” to “xanthenes”. Alternatively, one can browse by scientific journal or chemical functional group. For each chemical the molecular formula and molecular weight is provided, as is its chemical structure and alternate names. There are sections for physical properties and links to the MSDS, but these aspects of the site appear to be a work in progress. Unique to this database are links to synthesis references from the scientific literature for each compound. All told, the database contains over 40,000 compounds and more than 45,000 synthesis references.
