Biochemist e-volution is the rather unusually named online offering of the Biochemical Society and, to be honest, I’m not sure why they chose the rather undescriptive name. The theme of e-volution carries through the site (career e-volution, for example), but that seems to be the only consistent theme therein. The opening page looks like a newspaper that someone got half-started and then gave up on—lots of white space. On it are links to news articles (a definite plus), society news, newsletter access, articles in The Biochemist printed journal (membership required), and book reviews. I’m not sure exactly what the aim of the site is. Most of the offerings seem to have been stopped before they got started. The news section really could use
a lot more news. There could be more book reviews, though I did like what I saw here. The career section too needs more position listings. In summary, Biochemist e-volution is a good start, but I hope the overall effort is not yet finished. The site certainly isn’t.
