Weak Points: None

Summary:

Although the name might not make sense until you visit the site (or until I tell you in this blurb), you’ve got to award some creativity points to the people who named ARKive, a website dedicated to the conservation of endangered animals and plants. (You may be familiar with the story of another ARK that was intended to save animal species from destruction.) Aside from the clever name, ARKive is a beautifully designed website that aims to create “the ultimate multimedia guide to the world’s endangered species” by bringing together the talents of scientists, conservationists, filmmakers, and photographers. One can search the website’s video and image galleries by species, or one can simply explore the site by groups such as mammals, plants and algae, and fish. In addition to providing images and/or videos for each of the species included, there is also a substantial amount of scientific information about each of the species, including descriptions of habitat, biology, threats, and conservation.
